Satisfaction level of students of National university of science and technology (NUST) Regarding Online Teaching during 2nd wave of COVID-19 pandemic

Abstract

Objective: To determine the satisfaction level of students of national university of science and technology (NUST) regarding online teaching during 2nd wave of covid-19 pandemic. Study design: cross sectional study. Period:  March 2021 till April 2021. Material and methods: to measure the satisfaction level of NUST students a web-based questionnaire consisting of 23 questions was generated using google form. Through various digital online platforms (E-mailing/E-messaging) the questionnaire form was shared towards participants. SPSS was used to analyze calculated data; presentation of data is carried in term of percentages (%) and frequencies (N). Results: A total of 256 students participated in the study. The majority were from the age group 18–20 years (55.5%, n=142). Among them 57% (n= 146) consist of male and 43%(n=110) were female.  The Majority of the participants (27.3%; n=70) were studying in 2nd semester of Software engineering department. Among electronic device used for online study laptop was used as major electronic device (34.8%; n=89) followed by mobile phone (25.8%; n=66). The maximum satisfaction index (83.2%) was observed with response time of faculty about asked questions during online lectures. and the minimum (46.6%) was observed with question, preference of online teaching and feeling online education is worth my time. Conclusion: Overall, there was dissatisfaction and negative comments regarding interaction among students, practical learning, focus on study and technological/infrastructural flaws. Online setup of teaching and learning can be improved by removing objections and issues faced by students. There is need of development of faculty training program regarding this issue.
